Parent Meetings are divided by age group. Please attend the meeting based on the age group your child is registered to play. Tuesday, 8/24 (for U-4 and U-8 families) or Wednesday, 8/25 (all other families - U-6, U-10 and above)
Time: 6:30 pm Overview of the League followed by Meet the Coaches. Location: Smyrna Community Center - Large Banquet Rooms This is a chance for additional questions to be answered and time for parents to meet the coaches. We recommend that children do not come to the meeting. But if parents need to bring their children, there will be a room with free babysitting/child-watching set-up on both nights. The kids can watch a Disney- like movie while the parents attend the meeting. Important Dates: Coaches will be receiving their rosters on 8/19. Families will receive a phone call or an email from their coach prior to the parent meeting. The coach will provide families with information regarding the night(s) and time of practice. (Rosters will also be posted at the Parent Meetings) Practices will begin the week of August 30th. Games will begin the weekend of September 10th/11th. The season lasts 10 week. Game schedules will not be ready until early September. Picture Day is October 2nd. Time: TBD (ALL teams will have pictures on 10/2 regardless of when their game is scheduled during the weekend). Field Information: SSC will once again be using multiple field locations to accommodate the numbers of teams and members that we have playing in the fall season. We will be utilizing River Line Park and Jonquil Park. SSC is not able to guarantee at which field a team will be located. Please keep this in mind when registering your child, especially if you have siblings that could possibly be playing at two different locations. U-4 and U-6 teams practice one night a week (Mon – Thu). U-8 and older teams practice twice a week (Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu). Games are usually played on Saturday. However, the traveling teams (U-10 and above) sometime play on Sunday. U-4, U-6 and U8 teams will have games on Friday night. What equipment is necessary for soccer? 1. Shin guards are MANDATORY, and MUST be worn at all practices as well as games. For games they need to be worn UNDER the socks. 2. Although optional, we strongly suggest that each child wear soccer cleats. These are unique compared to baseball or football cleats in that they do not have a cleat at the front of the foot. For this reason, please be certain that the shoes you buy are indeed intended for soccer. 3. We recommend that each player have his or her own soccer ball. These come in different sizes. (Size #3 for U4, U6 and U8); (Size #4 for U10 and U12); (Size #5 for U13 and above) 4. We request that each child bring a water bottle to all practices and games. All of these items can be found at any sporting goods store or in the sports department of Wal-Mart and Target. We request that you support the community and consider shopping at JONQUIL SPORTING GOODS located on Spring Road. |
